im trying to render a flythrough of a golf course and im getting a really jittery result. i have assigned paths to the camera and camera targets and it all flys fine, but the resulting animation seems to jitter and bounce around. i really need a smooth result. i have done test animations with standard max objects and it goes smoothly but when i do it on the project (imported contours from autocad and made with terrain) its no good. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can you upload a video so we can see what sort of shaking it is? I can't think what it would be off the top of my head but maybe if I can have a look at it I might be able to have a crack at solving it.

Wow, there's a definate case of the shakes there. Did you import the camera and the path from autocad? If so would it be possible to create a new path in max that follows the imported one exactly? It might be just a bug of some sort. Otherwise you could keyframe animate the camera from scratch. (you probably wanted to avoid this I know but it might be the only option)

no i did create the camera paths in max. the camera follows a path and the camera target follows an instanced path that is set at a lower elevation. i have a feeling that it shakes due to the imported geometry of the site.

The problem is that MAX has a limited accuracy of 32 decimals. If you imported your scene from AutoCAD then most likely your origin is way off world zero. So max looses the accuracy to render your scene smoothly (AutoCAD has 64 decimals). The best way is to center your scene in AutoCAD first and then import it into max. You can center it after the import but then you have already lost resolution in your model. I wish they let you increase the decimal point like you could in Wavefront.
