Hi

i recently reinstalled 3dsmax6 on a new computer and i cant get the video renderer to function properly.

all default settings.

when i create a simple scene (like a spinning box) 100 frames, goto the render menu, i choose file, give it a name, choose the '.avi' format and hit save. here the program freezes and stops responding.

if i use '.mov' it simply does nothing when i hit save, doesnt freeze either.

Odd thing is i was able to render once and it created a screwed up 64kb file (avi) which crashed the windows explorer whenever i clicked on it.

Much oddness

Any help appreciated

PS! new puter has proper antivirus etc so that shouldnt be a problem.

Does rendering an image series work?

If that works, try loading the series into the RAM player and saving out from there.

Maybe also make sure you've got all the relevant codecs.

Don't know if it's the same problem but I had a problem with max 6 crashing when I tried to save an image series as .avi
I downloaded an updated version of the Avi.bmi file.
Here's a link to that file. Just copy the file to the stdplugs folder, be sure to back up your old Avi.bmi first
