Thats "compositing" you're talking about. Thats different from "composition".

Strangely enough...

yes i did post a bunch of notes and crap on composition before when you asked, did you read them?
max isnt for compositing. you can do some basic stuff with video post but its really the wrong tool like trying to drill a hole with a screw driver.
use after effects or in a pinch premier can do compositing tasks.

Remember this post? you said you were "gona research this more"

Maybe do some reading on composition. there are loads of rules and tips that you learn in fine arts or graphic design classes that you end up
applying sub consciously. I'll attach one of the hand out pdfs I made about composition for the Mad course.

A few things that come to mind are.

1. The rule of thirds or golden mean. divide your picture into thirds horizontally and vertically and place your focal point where the lines intersect.

2. avoid passive compositions make the viewer do a bit of work to make the experience more interesting. there is an example in the .pdf

3. Include a foreground, middle ground and background to add depth and interest.

4. Use the composition to draw th viewers eye into the composition. eg. faces usually look into the frame not out. try to lead the eye around the image and back into it again.

5. for exteriors think about the horizon. low horizon gives a feeling of space, high horizon brings you back to earth. avoid making the horizon central and passive.

6. This goes with the first point (the rule of thirds) have a strong centre of interest and try to lead the eye through the picture and back to it.
