hey, guys. I currently download a free Car model. Its not group or anything, but when i select the door for example, and change the color it adds the color to the whole car. What could i do. I checked out some tuts and dint find an answer. Thanks for reading.

everything i guess. its just a blank (gray) car model.

Is the entire model one object? If so, you can try converting to editable poly ( if it already isn't one) and detaching the various parts. You can also try assigning separate material IDs to the separate parts.

Its not grouped or anything, when i click on the door for example, i can move it and it seems everything is ID with its name. But when i try to add color it colors the whole car + wheel. weird.

The first material slot in your material editor is applied to all of the objects. Make you new material in one of the other slots and then apply it to the doors.
