Ok here we go...

The background is sky and clouds, wedding dress, head band and white hair, all shout angel kinda thing at me, not housewife. I see all that next to the white king and the make up and I'm left thinking huh? I think the concept is currently at risk of being lost. I would have pictured a more 50's house wife kinda thing but exaggerated in an almost religious iconography kind of way.

I cant work out what the hell to do with this set of images. they were meant to be about a bride offing herself but in the end i have ajumble of strange odd things. *ponders* maybe i should just give in and do the angel thing?

Yeh, it's definately more angel than housewife, even the band on her head looks like a fallen halo. Maybe an angel who has left heaven to come to earth and now regrets her decision. She kind of looks like she's looking up to heaven longingly.

Just because this is the first thing I always seem to tell you with your photos.... you need to crop it better... only in the fact that the white king bottle isnt in the center of the picture and it really looks lke it needs to be. I think you made

I dont usually say things like this as I dont tend to have an opinion about it (as I reallydont have alot of idea when it comes to it) buuuuut the make up is real6ly bad... it just looks horrible and the colours really seem to distract from the picture. I guess I understand what you where trying to do with it, but I dont know, you have all these really nice soft shapes, and the make up just seems so harsh and bright...

the lighting is fine, as it is such a simple picture, you have done the right thing buy not creating harsh contrasts.

I have to agree with previous comments as with the She kind of looks like she's looking up to heaven longingly. She looks like she is praising white king... and the fact she is in a wedding dress... you are elft to wonder is she cleaning on her honey moon instead of doing what honey moon couples do or something? or is she marrying the white king? the context of the picture, the message is really messed up. It just leaves me confussed.

I think, what would be better if you had a series of images, and have her in the same pose, just each iteam she is wearing, and object she is holding is related. So e.g. wedding, she could be holding a bottle of lube, or a box of condoms, pair of hand cuffs, or a whip or something.. Have her dressed as an old pin up house wife

The makeup was doomed to be shithouse from the moment we started when I forgot to bring eyelash glue. Me doing makeup without false eyelashes... doesnt work. It was all downhill from there. We were trying to team up the bad 80's wedding dress (ill have to post better photos to show it in all its awful awful glory) with some iffy blue 80's eyeshadow. In the end... I agree. I hate it. I can photoshop it to try and get it out of there... butttttttt can i be bothered doing that for every shot in the series? possibly not. I may just scrap this shot because its the only one where it doesnt entirely fit in.

The cropping. Her arms are placed really awkwardly. either way I go I cut off too much arm, or add too much space to one side. Should I try physically resizing her body to make it all even or am i losing a battle? I have no idea. The picture I had in my head was this angelic photo praising the white king for a)its cleaning awesomeness or b)its power to wipe her out.

I honestly dont mind that your confuzzled about the message as I'm working it all out for myself as well. The housewife idea got knocked the hell on down today when i realised... I cant stand the housewife cleche crap. So the idea floated on elsewhere. The basic idea that I had for this image was this obviously bleached blonde white bride vomiting or spilling booze all over her wedding dress. Knowing me I'll probably go the vomit option... she goes to clean it up but is so wasted she accidently swigs the white king and dies. Alternatively... shes on her wedding day, just gotten married and suddenly decides it wasnt such a great idea and knocks herself off using household bleach.

Either way she dies and i get the sick satisfaction of killing characters off.

i dunno.

So basically it will be like one of those awsome white trash wedding where the wife gets all drunk and starts making a fool and crapping on about how it was a mistake and ends up drinking white king.... I can see that working


and yeah killing charcters makes art fun

I think you got your idea there, just needs to be refined and thought about a bit....

I don't like the makeup either I think it somewhat cheapens the image I'd you know what I mean?

I think she gets lost in the cyan I'd like to see what it would look like with a more conventional bluesky theme.

Overall I don't think there's enough contrast in the image it seems very flat.

I do however love the pose and theme and I'm sure it'll end up amazing.

i think this theme has been done to death = stepford wives, desperate housewives, and tons of others that i can think of - all parodies of the perfect housewife/soccer mom scenario. maybe it's just me, (and it probably is), but the pic doesn't really bring anything new to it either. instead of villifying the traditional housewife, and glorifying the chain-smoking, latex-clad, whip-toting dominatrix, why not bring some refreshing new middle ground to the whole thing...

Heya everyone, thanks for the imput.

Turns out I was indeed seeing things through those rose coloured glasses and I decided to throw this one in, in exchange for other shots in the series that were a bit less filled with random mixed messages and more silly fun stuff. It seemed to work much better.

thanks for the advice and help! I did however end up changing it a fair bit before deciding it wasnt right for the series. Heres how it ended up in the end with everyones help. Also attached are another two in that series wich I think are a bit more focused on one thing instead of many.

I think the other two two show the theme alot better than the white king shot. Especially the wedding ring one, it makes me cringe hahaha.

In the white king its not as clear cut, the underlying purpose of the white king isn't clear and makes my mind wander and get distracted from the theme.

Your work is also always a rediculously high standard and its hard to hit it "just-right" every time.

I have to agree with VarnishedOtter. While they're amazing photos they're very much message orientated, and the White King one is, as been said, odd.

The other two photos definitely carry a more focused meaning, while my favourite would have the be the third one.

hahahahaha It was so huge and ugly and awkward that the dress itself took on a life of its own. That thing is a BEAST. I have no idea how the original bride ever managed to wear it. she was only a tiny tiny girl, I honestly cant work out how she wore that much dress! It simply had to have a name. that name... is Larry.
