Just thought I'd ask people on the forum what they think.
Being a nutter for new gadgets I'm already starting to hunger for an upgrade to my phone.
I currently have an iphone 3G which has been really good in ternms of UI and general use but damn do I get the shits sometimes when
I just want to copy some mp3s from my work computer to the phone and I cant because I cant have an authorised version of itunes
on my workstation. Ive pretty much decided that my next phone will be something, anything, else other than an iphone.
I'm sick of not being able to use this incredibly usefull device for all the things it could actually do. So, I was looking at what seems to be the best android device available the HTC desire but wouldt you know, you can only get it for telstra in Australia and the Australian version of the phone has a 850mhz radio which is no good for the optus or vodafone 900mhz networks. so the thing to do is buy one from the UK. but I'm not sure enough about this particular phone to make that kind of leap. Has anyone else got some advise on android phones? should I wait for some glowing orb of smarphone goodness just months from release that will run the latest crop into the ground? any wisdom would be usefull. smile.gif

Well it's not an android phone but I just got a Nokia X6. My first impression is that the build quality is pretty cheap, lots of crappy plastic buttons that feel lose and input covers that don't click into place very well. I'm on a virgin plan and the setup options they sent me don't work very well. Currently the GPS isn't working (can't get a connection) and the only way I can get the internet working is to manually point it to the correct connection every time, as the default connection doesn't work. This means that pretty much any app that doesn't ask what connection to use won't work.

On the up side it will connect to a PC very easily, just plug it in with the USB and go. I've been using it to transfer work file to the home computer and vice versa. It's got a 16gb HD which is plenty for what I need. If I can get the connection problems sorted I think it'll be a pretty handy device.

Anyway, probably not all that helpful to your cause, but there you go smile.gif

Thanks man. yeah, so far it seems that android with HTC's "sense" UI is the closest thing to the fluid user experience offered by apple. but I'm still not sure.
has anyone tried the HTC desire or the samsung galaxy s?
