gr8 artwork.....! the modelling is also good.... although i don't know anything abt charatcer modelling... still i liked it...!
which software did u use??
Thanks alot.
I modelled most of it in max. I made a low res mesh for the ogre, then used
z-brush for the details. I exported quite a high res version from z-brush and used vray displacement for the finer details. The distant mountains were exported as .OBJ objects from Vue 5 just as a test really. sometimes its nice to use the Vue fractals instead of max noise or whetever but you can hardly see them in the end. I did a composite in photoshop and I used fusion and Knoll light factory for the sun flare.
Looks great! Perhaps the snow looks a bit round a fluffy, but other than that it's really good. How long have you been working on it?[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
It took four days, but I was at work with absolutley nothing to do so I spent pretty much the whole work day on it. I was trying to do the modelling quickly so he doesnt have a face or chest. I should have made him complete with a rig so I could do an animation.
I was thinking about doing snow that lands on him with some falling off with particle flow.
agreed on the snow. Its tricky I tried a few things but I havent come up with a good method for the snow.
Thanks for comments, yeah, I was trying to "roughly" copy this Frazetta painting. I didnt get the pose quite right, I prefer Frazettas but I got lazy and without rigging him up it was tricky getting the pose to do what I wanted.
If you haven't heard of Frazetta, he is in my opinion one of the greatest traditional fantasy artists to ever live. He worked almost completely from his imagination. His original oil paintings sell for $250,000 each which is very unusual for a fantasy illustrator. usually we "graphic artists" aren't taken seriously by the fine art world.
