Hi, I just started using 3D max 2009 and I have ran into some problems.
I'm trying to draw a 3D electric toothbrush onto a table in a bathroom. Now the problems I have are:
- I don't know how to curve the edges
- When I render the image one of the sides doesn't show up?
- I don't know how to apply a surface to both sides

This is a picture of the toothbrush I have been trying to draw and what I have tried in 3D max so far:

and my source files can be found here (zipped):

Thanks for your time!

I'd start with a box with several segments, collapse to editable poly, move the verts around to shape the handle very roughly and add a turbosmooth. then adjust it further on the base mesh with show end result turned on in the modifier stack so you can see how the turbosmooth is effecting the mesh. then make the top part starting with a cylinder as a seperate object. maybe use a whole lot of little cylinders for the bristles.

looks like you're missing a polygon there, you can fix it by going to edit poly / polygon and choose Create, to create a polygon you should connect 3-4 vertices.
To round up edges, select edges you want to round and apply chamfe to them. For more smoother result you can apply turbo smooth or mesh smooth modifier to object as Tyson mentioned.

Could you tell me how to add a turbosmooth?

just go to modify panel and from modifier list select turbosmooth, for more smooth result try increasing iterations from default 1 to 2.
Mesh smooth and turbosmooth can mess up your model if you dont chamfer the edges, also keep in mind that all of your verticies are welded together, no loose ones grin.gif

There's a nice little chamfering tute by spitfire in this thread if you're having trouble with your edges.

Thanks again! I'm still messing around with the base design, one side of the toothbrush doesn't show up when I render it and the slope doesn't show up when I render it either. Any ideas?

Forgot to mention: The sides of the toothbrush have been made using bridges

Well it looks like you understand how editable poly works. And it probably wouldn't take much for you to become very good.
Look how fast and easy editable poly can be:

You can drag+shift the edges to make more faces. Extrude parts.
Smooth grouping (Smooth Groups) is a great way to define the hard edges in your model.
For example:

Oh another quick question:
I have two different designs in separate files, is it possible to merge them so I have both of them together in 1 design?
