i've one doubt which i want to clarify.......i made a dustbin..... in which i want equally holes made by the box ... the dustbin is round....and the holes r very close to each other. so what i want to ask is do i have to manually rotate each box for boolean... or can i use the array tool for the arrangement? if it's by Array... then plz tell me how to do it?
hope i'm clear abt the query....if not plz tell

You can use the array tool to get the boxes into the right position, then convert one of them to an editable poly and attach the remaining boxes. Then you only have to do 1 boolean operation rather than individual operations for each box.

Do the boxes need to be placed in a ring? If so the array tool may not be the best choice.

thanx .... but in the boolean operation the box must cross in and out of the bin... so where do i do the hirarchy .... i mean where shuld i put the pivot ? in the centre of bin or where?

the boxes need to be placed in the round dustbin.

If you want to do a circular array you need to use the bin as the tranform coordinate centre. there is a detailed step by step in the max user reference for that very thing.
look for "circular array".

where is the max user reference Tyson? do u mean at the autodesk website or where?

press F1 when you're in max for the user reference. I didn't actually know about the circular array. Cheers Tyson.

okk..... i see... i did press F1 but the box is blank... it must be coz while i installed the Max 2008....after de- installing max 9....i didn't copy the tuorials folders in the Max 2008.

The max help files may be available at autodesks website, try there.

thanx varnished..... got the files frm the site.
i did the circular array in the dustbin... well...i'm making a kitchen...so for that i needed it.
