I'm modelling a bike...Suzuki-Boulevard-S50. the problem i'm facing is frm the ref. image which i'm using. normally the exhaust is only on one side... but in the ref. image the exhaust i can see is on both sides... i'll post the image ....
the third image is my Bike WIP....
Nice start. looks like you might have to make twin exhausts. If it looks cool no ones gonna say you got it wrong. plus you have evidence they make this bike with two exhausts.
thanx.... i have added more details in it... yaa... it's a challenge for me....
maybe i'll finish it today or tomorrow... then i'll post the final output...!
Can't we get the blueprints of bikes with dimensions like we get for the car ??
Well, I don't get why is it a problem to add twin exhausts, it's not so unusual for choppers (especially some with more HP) to have twin exhausts.
Look at some CK choppers from "West Coast", "Orange County" "Big Bear" etc... etc...And you'll see that there are plenty with twin Exhaust, whether they are on the same side, or every exhaust on each side... don't worry about that. There's nothing wrong with pictures.
Anyway, it's looks like a good start to me
Hope to see final result soon.

thanx throatcutter.... for ur soothing comments....
yaa... ok.. i'll post my today's WIP...
a lot of work is still left and more detailing is yet to be done...
Plz give ur suggestions...!
thnax cdballew..... but i didn't get u.....sorry... i don't know the part names exactly...... do u mean the inner metallic steel part... or the inner part of the tyre??
I'm thinking the bit at the front, I believe the fuel tank. should be a bit rounder more like a droplet and come up closer to the handle bars. Theres also something about the angle of the front forks that isnt quite capturing that cruiser type feel. Looks really nice though.
its challenging modelling stuff like this without good reference and or blueprints.
maybe find one for real and take some photos.
just don't get caught by the biker who owns it
yaa... that's one stuff(fuel tank) where i too thought some fault is there...i'll pay attention to it... and try to rectify it... well.. thanx for pointing it out...
yaaa... that's what i asked before too... whether we can get the bikes' blueprints with dimensions??
You're doing well, I like it.

hey guys.... i finally think i've completed the bike modelling...well.. some more is yet to be done for the handle..
i'm not able to model the brakes...can anyone plz help in this regard?
I'll post the images.... plz post ur comments & suggestions as ususal.
I think as throatcutter said, the tyres need to be a bit more rounded, otherwise they'd lose grip when the bike went round a sharp corner. It looks good though.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
well ... steve i did follow cdballew and did rounding for the rear tyre... r u talking abt both tyres or one of them?
how do i create realistic material for the bike? help plz..
If you're talking about the brake levers, I'd probaby use a cylinder and kinda squash it flat a bit then cut it into slices and move/scale them until it looks kinda right. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
thanx varnished for the help..... but i guess that the brake is flat in the beginning and towards the middle it is somewhat round in shape and at the end there is a small sphere....am i correct? plz guide me. thanx..
good_days, did you miss the link I gave for blueprints? The site doesn't have full prints for your bike but it has a very good side view that will help with fuel tank location and such. Also, Google image search is a big help to me when I'm working on stuff. Search Google images for "brake lever" and take your pick.
Chris
no..cdballew... didn't miss it... i saw it... it has the side view of the bike.... it really helped a lot... google images...hmmm.... the 1st two images on the top r frm google search. but i didn't try for the brakes... well i'll try it today. what do u think abt the fuel tank location?
Thanks.
well there's a lot of chrome there, so it's probably a good idea to get a nice reflective vray material for starters. You'll probably be able to do it procedurally mostly, and just use textures for the logos and stuff like that.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
yeah, Maybe use vray material for the chrome with black diffuse colour and reflection and some sort of HDR image in the vray environment. maybe use a standard material and multilayer with two levels of matte specular and anistropy for the rubber bits.
Vray material with glossy fresnel reflections and a bump map for the black plastic seats.
register at [Link to www.chaosgroup.com] and get the user reference and tutorial documents. its pretty techy but it covers lots of things. Vray material is pretty simple for doing stuff like chrome. just make your diffuse colour black and your reflection colour white. set your reflection glossyness to something like 0.8 or 0.9 to get a specular highlight.
make sure you have a decent reflection map in your environment aswell
(preferably HDRI). Its best to use the vray reflection refraction environment override in the environment rollout in render settings so you don't get the environment showing in the background. also remember to instance the map to the material editor and set it to spherical environment.
Thanks oh and no problem my website still needs a lot of work there is still a lot of changes needing to be made.

i'm still reading the tuts on chaosgroup for vray... i had left it in between sometime ago but... as i've again resumed learning it... i tried using some hdri for this bike and below r the pics....i'll do some more work on it and post the pics in a few days...
Might be a good idea to see if you can find some good leather textures. If you can find a good leathery greyscale image that you can use for bump and perhaps alter it for specular map slots that would go along way to getting a good material.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Stop searching , I've had something laying around.
Apply the bumpmap i added as bumpmap to the seat, and just give it a brown or gradient colour in the difuse map. it should do just fine, you could also tweak the lightning to make it look even more Leather.
Also, you could make it just a tad reflective but the glossiness problably needs to go to 0.8
hey... many thanks John for the bump map pic of leather text. i'll make the above adjustments as u have said.
Sorry... but i don't get understand 'tad reflective' wud u explain the meaning?
