Testing out some camera tricks in an old scene.

Apologies if its a little dark, I made a stormy evening hdri in Vue and it didn't turn out so well.

I used my random box size script to make the city for this scene.

Nice, I could imagine a whole short in this grey style, maybe with a brighter HDRI though. I was just waiting for the nuclear explosion at the end. was that a bomb that he dropped?

yeah it was meant to be a bomb. Still have to work out how to make some good explosion stuff in max.

That rising city script you wrote almost looked like it could be an explosion. If you could make it balls of fire and smoke rather than buildings it'd be really effective. That'd be easy right?

Yeah I could modify it to use expanding spheres. Then to make a volumetric fire/smoke material. Any ideas on that?

Pretty much what you just said sounds good. I've seen spheres and blobmesh used effectively for thick smoke/fire which might look good.

The latest vray has some nice volumetrics, though, I think a bright flash behind the skyline and some strong red glow on the horizon followed by camera shake and crumbling buildings (rayfx) in the distance with an encroaching (animate the environment range) fog mapped with animated noise in the fog colour would probably nail it, I think after burn is probably the best way to get that really thunderous black smoke of a nuclear cloud but Ive never had the patience for all those trillion spinners, makes me feel sick just thinking about it.

Ata pinch you could probably get away with planes instead of spheres. Kind of like facing particles. It'd certainly be a lot cheaper than a large amount of spheres.

Yeah facing planes would be fairly easy. I still need some good sprites for that though.

Well, I can understand that you are just testing things out and I think the animation is just fine , the only thing I could say is that the walking is a bit humpy but no real bad crits smile.gif

I would use some mo cap for the bipeds walk, vs footsteps. It would look more convincing. I love the zoom however.

There are plenty of free bip files out there, shouldn't be too hard to find a good one. I posted a link in the resources section.
