I know that this may be a little redundant - as I am sure that most of you have done the full tutorials within Studio Max, but I wanted to post some of the work so that you guys knew I actually had a 3d desire - than a mere "3d forum joiner." So here is the link to my new picasa web album for this wip:

Anyways,

I am having problems with the rook - the tutorial tells me to:

Hold the Ctrl key down and click the Polygon button again on the Selection rollout. All polygons connected to the selected vertex are automatically selected.

When I press Ctrl it just switches over to the other square. I am using 3dmax 9 - any advice is excepted.

I added some more pics of my work - wow the knight is quite difficult. Any tips would be appreciated.

@ Steve Martin

Yep - that's what I was doing, except when I would hold down ctrl and then click - It would just change the selection type - I am not sure if there is a way to turn off CTRL within 3dsmax.

@Scott

Uhm - I didn't want to get carried away with that stuff because the real eye candy begins with materials and lighting and I didn't want to feel complete with 3 pieces. SO yes, I was waiting until the board was done.

Hmmm. Are you sure you converted it to an editable poly and not an editable mesh?
