Max comes with a cloth modifier, have you tried that and can't get it to work?

It sounds like you are rendering frame zero. When you create the cloth simulation it starts from frame zero (initial flat state), and as the cloth falls into place the frame number goes up.
Scrub your time slider and find the frame that shows your cloth the way you want it.
You can set the initial state of the cloth at that frame by collapsing the stack, so that it is on the table at frame zero. Or you can change the frame number in the render dialog.

Are you using Reactor or the Cloth modifier?

hmm i think i do it wrong XD.gif cause i need to use cloth modifier ... and reactor for the movement of things... but it stays a solid object frown.gif

hmm i figured out the simulate thing in cloth modifier.. but it goes right trough my other objects now XD.gif

Describe what you are trying to do with Reactor, maybe that will help me.
There are ways to use both.

the plane that you have the cloth modifier on, go into the cloth object properties and select type:cotton. in the left hand side of the dialogue box theres a list of the objects in the simulation, make sure that the cloth object has 'cloth' selected above the properties panel.

you also have to make the box a collision object so you click 'add objects' and select the box, and instead of clicking 'cloth' above the properties panel click 'inactive' and then down the bottom select 'collision object'. the cloth should deform to the shape of the box now.

hope this helps smile.gif

OH and one other thing...

to make the cloth simulation work you have to select your cloth object, make sure your in keyframe 0, and then press 'simulate' and itl make the cloth fall down. after this you can scroll through the timeline and view the animation, and then render it as you would render any animation.

thanks! it worked grin.gif

only few problems.. i can only select inactive or collision object... not both...
and the cloth is going a lil bit through the edges of the box

ok, yeah sorry in that case make the box a collision object. try adding more subdivisions on your plane and see if it makes a difference. you can also customize the behaviour of the cloth by changing its stickyness, how much it repels from the collision object, etc. try tweaking gravity, adding a force object such as wind and have fun experimenting grin.gif it takes ages believe me i worked on cloth for a full week hunting down tutorials and such to try and figure it out! if all else fails the almighty google is your best option!
