Looking nice so far. You should do something cool like paint one of her tatoos coming to life or maybe a creature coming up behind her like her oversoul. or pet snake (like Nagini in harry potter) just a guess but something tells me she wouldnt mind that type of imagery.

hmmmmm I have to ask is this from a photo refrence, or are you paining her live?

I would guess it is from a photo? am I wrong?

The reason is because of the flatness of the picture 9I know you havent done all the shading, but I was more talking about the shapes you have already put in), I would recommend trying to paint people from real life, you end up getting a nicer image, that is more well rounded and intersting, on the flip side, you may need them to sit in one spot for awhile, which isnt always possible and if your the sort of person that does a little bit and comes back to it then does a little more it isnt always possible

It is really hard to critque portraits because I cant really judge what is wrong and what is just a messed up face lol. So ill just comment on things i think look wrong... if it was done from a photo, having the refrence image to look at might be good?

But I have to say that it looks like her right eye (our left, one covered with hair) looks a litte high and the curves of around the top of her nose dont seem to look right. Her mouth is slight off..needs to be move to the right (our) just a tiny bit. The way she is sitting looks really awkward and with the hair makes he head look rather large and un-flattering.


I cant wait to see it once it is all nutted out and done! by looking at some of your other works should be enjoyable

Yep she lives in the US and gave me a crappy webcam photo to work with. I have pretty much abandond this.

Ahh yeah that would explain alot... I can never abandon work... if I start something it will be finished even if it kills me...

But it is always good having some half finnished work laying around, for those times you cant think of something to draw/paint etc but you really want to do something!

Problem I have with painting or any art from for that matter is that once the inspiration has worn off and im down to the grinding task to working the details it can get a litte stale for me. However that is only if the subject matter is not interesting to me and in the case of this image that is why i lost focus.

Fair enough, I guess because of uni you get into the habbit of just doing drawings etc just for the hell of doing a drawing (as all the back up work etc you need to do)
