My girlfriend wants to join the site and upload some photos, but shes concerned about copyright issues, her work isnt copyrighted, shes still at uni but whats the deal if someone was to "borrow" an image without consent etc?
It depends what the images are if you dont want people to use you're images you need to either make them low res so they arent as usefull, and or watermark them. the watermark can be something that covers the entire image with a semi transparent mark or a logo in the corner. I wouldnt worry too much about people stealing work. unless it was for a client of course.
EVERYTHING you make is ALWAYS copyright to you and you have legal recourse to protect it if you wish.
It doesn't matter if it's registered trademark or whatever that's something entirely different. If you ware worried about it you can use watermarks or low res images as Tyson said. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
I think everyone has covered the issue pretty well. If she does find someone else has been using her work without consent she just has to send them a cease and desist letter. If they continue to use her work she can take them to court and sue for loss of income. That is if the person is using her work for commercial purposes.
