I'd say Maya, Blender is free though. and I know some very talented Blender artists out there. It a very different piece of software and not that easy to grasp as far as I can tell. But then so is Maya. And didnt you just start learning Max? Max is probably the least intimidating learning curve for a pro package In my opinion.
yes i just started max... but I figured out that I need to learn another software
to do more effects when animating... I'm not fun of making that are not moving..
animation is my life I want to learn more ..
neways I need more commentxx Thxx
since this is 3ds max forum... can I still ask for maya questions? thought im not leaving Max I just want to learn both at the same time hope I can

To be honest I would make a choice and become good at one and then venture out and try the other.
Also it is your choice to pirate software, but i would appreciate it if you did not reference that fact in your posts on this forum. You have already been warned for posting links to pirated software and we do not want this site to become a hub for file sharing or piracy of any kind.
(I apologize if you are referring to the trail version of maya, but given your previous posts on this site I can only assume that you are not.)
sorry but It's my bad to post that link haven't think of the consequences
sorry my bad...
but im just referring w/c is better... sorry it won't happen again.. that's why I'm not here much coz Ive done that cause...

No problem, don't feel that you are not allowed to participate. I just wanted to make a point to you. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
I'm not sure there are many Maya pros on this site. we seem to be mainly max guys. As the forum title would suggest. Its true Maya is used by more studios that do character animation and animation for film etc.. there are lots of studios that use max as well and max's animation tools can do practically everything you could imagine. All these programs are just tools, and max is one of the best, its good to know them all but carefull to not bite of more than you can chew. If you can animate in Max you can learn to animate in any software very quickly. Animation tools are probably the easiest thing to transfer to another package. I'm currently learning Maya but i will probably still build polygon models in max because I believe editable poly is a much better modelling tool than mayas polygon editing tools.
I think when it comes to very complex effects and complex rigging Maya is more versatile, you can use a non linear approach to many problems but Max seems to have a quicker solution for many of the less complex tasks involved in animation etc...
Maya is pretty easy once you learn how to navigate the interface.. it's much like max. I studied maya for 4 years before I got into max, and I did some good animations and some cool models, but I like max better because its more user friendly. Umm about blender.. I wouldnt know hahaha sorry...

This is an interesting topic as I'm currently looking to learn Maya as well. I figure it would be a good way to increase my employability.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
It is, learn all you can! the more the better! because it lets the employers know that you can adapt quickly especialy if they have a proprietary software of their own!

Yeah, its true that being able to pick up new software quickly is an asset. and Maya is a huge player out there. I have been offered several jobs using maya based on a portfolio of work that was done in Max so its primarily about the art. Jamie is right too though because if you spread yourself too thin you may not become particularly skilled at anything. The old saying Jack of all trades master of none is kindof true. I think once you hit a professional level in one package you can quite quickly learn another. There are things in Maya that are just several extra steps extra or a little less user friendly especially for polygon modelling. things like soft selection for example. in max you turn it on and move things around or even paint with it all in editable poly. In maya you have to use a soft mod which is an extra node rather than selecting the actual vertices. Maya doesnt have anything similar to a noise modifier either so its a bitch to create simple things like a terrain or some subtle waves in an ocean. Things like this make me think that max is a better choice for beginners but I'm sure as i become better with Maya some of its strengths will shine through.
i'm exploring on my own.. thats why I'm referring to others..
learning from you guys advice's...
although I don't understand Max yet... I still want to learn these 3 at a time..
w/c for me its so complicated.. well Im doing this to developed my skills on understanding things w/c I don't know yet... well.. I do learn fast when I'm doing things differentiating one thing to another... that's how I learn...
to tell you guys the truth all I know about Max it self explanatory and some tutorials I got from here... but honestly I don't get max more yet... like vray, modifiers, mesher, etc...
I just stepping one at a time... haven't done dealing with poly yet.. since my problem on poly not yet solve by my own.. it wasn't answered it here well too
I'm talking about dealing with text xtruding it and adding it with some poly's
but still Poly is my problem... haven't move to another since I'm stuck with Poly

look at the "A" in Rotary it has black triangle or something.. (0:14)
and the blue circle in the middle is totally mess up wen you get closer to it.. it has many triangles.. (0:15)

Just looking at the vid, the problem occurs when you bend the text, so there's obviously some overlapping vertices there. One thing you could try is adding the bend modifier to the text first and then extruding it.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
