im just wondering how you create objects in 3ds max with your desired dimension. i mean, for sketchup, it is very convenient to just type the dimensions while you draw an object. for 3ds max, i have created my own method. lol. i wonder how u pros do it? smile.gif

and if you have other tips, even just the basics of 3ds max, i'd really appreciate it! smile.gif

Thanks!!

Video tutorials are good for people starting out. A 10 min video tutorial could be more detailed than a 5 page html tutorial. Youtube is packed with them.

You can use the Keyboard Entry panel to get precise measurements.

When you click a new object to create, it will come up in the side panel to the right, you may have to roll it out.

I was thinking more of the pop-up transform/move tool, I've been looking for it for weeks. I thought that was what was being asked for. Sowwie

yeah and you can use the tape measure helper and snap it to things to find out how long they are. or create new primitives with specific dimensions and snap the vertices of other objects to them. Or create a plan image in photoshop and load it onto a plane with the correct dimensions and use that as a rough guide.
