Hi,

Well, I'm having a problem with the display in 3ds max 9. Basically, every time I click on the viewport the screen flashes briefly, or as long as I hold the click. This is extremely annoying as I click A LOT when navigating around the viewport, as I'm sure most people do.

I'm thinking it's something to do with the display, right now it's in Direct3D. I'm pretty sure there is a way to change it to openGL, but I don't know how. How would I go about doing this?

And if that doesn't solve the problem, what else can I try? I have Vista Ultimate x32, and I know that there are some issues as far as display goes in CAD programs. I've set the compatibility to Windows XP and run as an administrator, still the same problem. It even happens in 3ds max 7. And I know it can't be my computer itself, as far as games go I can run just about any game at max settings.

If I'm not mistaken the problem is gone in 08 or 09, but I need 9 for what I'm specifically doing.

Thanks in advance.

Customize -> Preferences -> Viewport -> Choose Driver -> Revert From Direct3D.

That should get ya into open gl mode, or try having a tweak of the DX setting you'll find in there.

Thanks a lot, turns out it was the Direct3D display. I reverted to software display and it worked fine. I also did a search and found this:

This was my exact problem and now it works fine, now I can use Direct3D.

Thanks again for the help.
