theres some interesting stuff so far. Im still not totally sure about these new motion control schemes but I'm certainly more hopefull that natal/kinect could be better than I had originally thought. I still think that when it comes to the crunch you will only be able to play for like 20 minutes or so and then collapse. Imagine something like dragon age origins with kinect. it would bring new meaning to "leveling up". Its an exciting time to be into this stuff though, I'm interested to see what this new crytek game is "code name KINGDOMS" amongst other things.

I think the Kingdoms thing may be an RPG. I hope so anyway. I think Kinect is a bit of a gimmick personally. Also the games it is shipping with looked pretty horrible. I have to say I was impressed most by the PlayStation move and the Sony press conference in general.

Yeah I agree, I . I havent seen the sony press conference yet but what Ive seen of the "move" it does look like a better option, provided it has that responsiveness that the wii lacks, controllers are still the way to go for traditional games, I doubt very much that any real "must buy" title with absorbing story and 20+ hours of gameplay will actually be better using either option. I wasnt all that down on the microsoft presentation. they have some pretty exciting things in the works but I'll reserve judgement until I catch the sony conference.

Have to agree with this comment. I don't think motion controllers do that much for immersion, but they can add to the fun in some games. At the end of the day you're always going to be looking at a screen. So until someone comes up with a matrix style virtual reality (except one where you don't actually die when you get killed in the game) I'm happy to sit at my messy desk in a darkened stale room frantically WASDing to the latest and greatest on the PC. Not that I have anything against consoles or anything, it's just that I haven't seen any reason to go get one when my work machine also does gaming pretty damn well.

I tried a 3d tv in Bing lee the other day. sure its 3d when your watching a pixar film on blue ray but forget about 3d for regular tv, it just looks bad unless its done really really well, the soccer made you feel like you just rubbed KY in your eyes. Like you said Steve, until its VR headsets with head tracking its just not really 3d at all. I dont see why its so hard to achieve, surely similar tech to "kinect" or "move" could track your head motion for looking around. I guess it comes down to creating a product that doesn't give you a brain hemorrhage that is also cheap enough manufacture.

Yeh, I think the brain hemmorrhaging was why VR never took off all those years ago. Actually, on the 3d topic... nah, I'll go and start a separate thread.
