im not satisfied with the moon too bumpy... I i adjusted it lower than default but still no effect..
still cna't figure out what I just copied from the tutorial what's its functions and use...
ohh okay... im planning to remove the moon.. it doesn't look like one but imma try fixing it..
I got question... i'm planning to put a flat meteor rotating around the earth with some effects that looks like a meteor falling.. any ideas how can i make it Done?
Started Max last September 2008
You can higher the resolution by rendering at a bigger output, 800x600 is the standard i use for test rendering. I'd like to see your moon mesh from a better angle
Looking foward to your animation!
Take your time, dont overrush things, and the most important thing of all things, in my opinion, is that you learn to do things over and over, not much at the same time!
Give it all a bit more detail When rendering at higher resolutions , what you are already doing shows up, you might want to add more detail to the objects seen in your scene
use the one for the moon called "digital elevation map" in the bump or maybe even displacement.... although displacement may be getting a bit too advanced I guess.
I can't imagine what a flat meteor would look like mate, but, maybe you could try and create a meteor using a sphere and some particles and then link them to a spline circle with a path constraint. heres a tut that covers some of that process.
then just pick the spline which you want it to follow. Set the percentage with your key frames to define at what point you want it to reach the end of the path

so do you want it so that it always faces outwards sorta thing? and were you wanting it curved to fit the path aswell?

ok, well to get its orientation correct in the path constraint there is a tick box "Follow"(i think) tick that, and it will follow the orientation.
As to getting it curve around - apply a bend modifier to the text. I did a quick scene, and I had to rotate the bend gizmo 90' downwards to get it bending the right way.

which should show you what you need to do. However Im sure you can do it without looking

i wish i can do that too......
i need more practice....
