Hi guys!

I got this school project where I need to ask some people who has experience in a job that I would want to have in the future. So, could you please answer the following questions:

Name: [if you don't mind]
Job:

1. What do you do in your job?

2. Why did you enter this occupation? Was it all that you had expected it to be? Was it better or worse?

3. What is the best thing about your job?

4. What is the most difficult/worst thing about your job?

5. What is the salary range for this type of job? Please specify your currency.

P.S. Please PM me your answers if you don't want your name posted in the forum.

Thanks in advance.

Umm ok. I hope you mean any job.

Name: James Barrie
Job: Web Developer

1.) I design and develop websites, Anything from a simple business website to a large scale customer management system.
2.) I entered this profession because I didn't see my self getting a job in the art world any time soon. It was initially a lot worse than I had expected. However things have improved.
3.) The best thing about my job is that I get to work from home and to my own schedule, as I run my own business.
4.) The work is sporadic, which means that sometimes I am on the bread line.
5.) The salary range could be anything from 20k a year to 100k depending on the job.

I hoped for Game Developers and CG Artists to answer these questions since they are what I find most interesting. But I also think Web Development is quite interesting.Anyways, thanks a lot for your reply.

There's a bit of a likeness there, mainly the hair really. Hopefully Jamie's game will go on to define a new genre as well.

I don't really mind if you're not getting paid to do it.. Experiences are what's important.

Ok, this was my last job:

Name: Gerard
Job: Set/prop modelling

1. What do you do in your job?

Modeled sets and props for an upcoming kids tv show.

2. Why did you enter this occupation? Was it all that you had expected it to be? Was it better or worse?

I've been trying to break into this industry for a few years now and this was my first chance to do some studio work. It was a good experience, though I had a couple of frustrating moments where things weren't quite going right. Overall I enjoyed it a lot though the contract was fairly short.

3. What is the best thing about your job?

Finally doing what I'd been trying to achieve for about 3 years.

4. What is the most difficult/worst thing about your job?

Doing furniture removals for about 5 years before that I kind of got used to being outside and moving around. Being stuck in front of a computer for most of the the day did take some getting used to.

5. What is the salary range for this type of job? Please specify your currency.

It's really hard to say. Set/prop modeling is more of an entry level position so usually the pay rate isn't going to be that high. I guess $20 per hour would be the low end, maybe $40 or $50 for someone with experience working on a high profile job. I'm not really sure maybe someone else might know? Currency is Australian dollars.

By day I am a system analyst, by night I'm currently lead programmer on a game project.

Name: Matthew Edmondson

Job: System Analyst/Programmer

1. What do you do in your job?
Write and maintain large scale web systems

2. Why did you enter this occupation? Was it all that you had expected it to be? Was it better or worse?
Because I had the skillset and am good at designing processes and systems. The subject is not that interesting, as the company is in the telco industry, I get to play with large amounts of data though and the challenges that come with that are interesting to solve.

3. What is the best thing about your job?
Working on a large scale

4. What is the most difficult/worst thing about your job?
The boring subject matter

5. What is the salary range for this type of job? Please specify your currency.
AUD$40-80K
