I made a few flowers to go in a scene I am making, just thought I'd share them.

Theyre way high poly for what I'm going to be using them for, but ohwell, I had fun making them.

Those are great Matt! Are you going to spread them using particles or scatter

Looks good. How many are there gonna be in the scene? GPU killing numbers?

Haha yes. Thank god (or Autodesk) for Proxy mode is all I can say!

I was on the edge with 200 flowers in the scene, so I optimized them. 20K polys each down to 1.4K. Now I'm rendering out thousands without a problem.

One thing I get though, is after every render I have to restart max before rendering again. Or it crashes!

How odd. Looking forward to the scene. Is someone going to be running through them in slow motion?

Maybe make a lower res version for the background and distant flowers so you can get really thick fields then comp in a pass for the closeup flowers. and some super close up ones with lens blur for depth of field?? whats your project.

Yeah with the optimized model I can render out a field of 1000, it doesn't need to hold up to close inspections so its okay.

*Update:* I made a tree for the scene, using TreeStorm and my own textures from my backyard.

What sort of polys are we talking for the tree?
