for the last year and a half i have been working on an animated tv show for the ABC. Well its almost done and i just discovered on the abc kids site a link to a coming soon website where you can view the intro sequence in which i was responsible for the animation. I had to pump out this 10 second animation in about 5 hours so i think its quite reasonable given the time restrictions. anyways go have a look.

and it's a story that might bore you, but you don't have to listen, because I always knew it was going to be like that.

Awesome. certainly makes me want to see the show. How much animation have you done for it? is there a large team?
I'd be interested to know what sort of workflow/pipeline you guys have. as in do you get very long to do your shots?.
do you have to do your own rigging? What software is it? etc.

thanks!

now questions. the team is very small, it started of with four guys including me but then grew later to include another two, to work on rendering and compositing. at the start of the project I was modeling characters, set and props but once the majority of the assets were built we began animating. us four animators were given 6 x 1 minute episodes (i ended up doing 8 for some reason) and had to animate the entire episode as well as model and rig any extra props that were required. so i have done heaps of animation for it. each episode we had 4 to 6 weeks to finish.

all the character rigging was left to two of the guys who really know they're stuff, i only rigged up simple props as i needed them. nothing too spectacular.

the software used was maya

yep correct.
all custom rigs, for the most part they were pretty standard except the main character he had all the bells and whistles so he can do some pretty crazy moves. i am no rigger, i can hold my own to a point but some of the stuff made for the main character is pretty complicated.

If it's going to be on the ABC it should eventually show up on that ABC I-view thing won't it? Or is the whole thing gonna be on the website?
