Try repeating the process of: inset -> extrude and maybe throw in a few bevels to get that nice routed look for a picture frame.

You mean the material is stretched in weird ways?

Try applying a UVW map.

when you use inset tool and then extrude 3ds max create not a single rectangular frame but 4 trapezoidal segment, is it right?

But if you think about it that is the way most frames are put together, the timbers are cut on the 45 degree angle and then glued to make the frame.

Really simple way to do it is making box, shape it to look like a picture, then convert it to edit poly and select front polygon, apply inset (just keep in mind, that inseted polygon is going to be your picture, and the rest is going to be a frame), then extrude that inseted polygin in by fiew units and detach it. That way you have two objects, one is the frame and the other one is the picture itself, then just put what ever material you want on the frame and some nice bmp for the picture. hope i hellped grin.gif and that you understood what i wrote grin.gif grin.gifgrin.gif
