i have created this guinea pig but the fur renders really wierd as though in a colour spectrum or something similar i have lowered the specular and glossiness but this has no effect and im using a map for the colour of the fur could anyone help as to why its rendering wierd thank you

Does it happen when you render the hair with just a flat grey material on it?

Perhaps It'd be easier if u tell us what's ur 3d version ...
I am using 3ds max 9 32-bit and so far I dont have any problem with Hair & Fur...
Have u tried using 'Style Hair' ? Maybe ur hairs are following your centre pivot point ...
