Hi there..I am new at 3dStudio, and I obviously got in trouble just started!
I am making a shape with lines, I welded it so it became a spline...
I converted into an editable mesh and I extruded the only the vertex, so it looks like a recipe... It is a strange shape, I really cant make it with other tools.
Well, my problem is that I cant map it. I tried with UVW mapping and it seems fitting what I need... the only thing is that when I load a bitmap in order to assign the material to the object the button does not activate. All other texture work fine, but not my bitmap.
I think I am doing wrong with the bitmap, I should make it different, but I don't know how...!!

Any answer or suggestion is appreciated...
Thanks

Yeah I'm a bit confused as to what shape you have created.

It looks like a recipe??

Generally if you add a uvw map to the whole object (not the subobject)
and hit the fit button, box or sphere mapping will at least get your bitmap to show up on the object when you press the show map in viewport button in the material editor.

In the material editor, are you pressing the get material button and loading up a bitmap? If you are, you won't be able to apply this to any object as max won't know how to display it. You have to apply a material with your bitmap in the diffuse channel. All you have to do is click the little square button next to "diffuse" in your standard material.

Thanks again for your help, but I have other problems..
First of all, do I have to open another topic or can I keep going on this one?
However, when I render my object, some of the "walls" do not render..
Is it a little problem of settings or should I recreate it with other tools?..

Thanks

you might need to make your material 2 sided, or add ashell modifier to give the object some thickness.

Either that or right click the object and go to its properties, make sure Backface Cull is turned off.

It was already backface culled, I had to tip "Force 2-sided" in the rendering window. smile.gif
