umm well you would have to model the mouth first and then model some teeth and gums to fit inside it. Pretty much the same way you would model anything else.

well to get the lingo right you could "model" the teeth by making each tooth from a modified box. just build one then copy it and modify it a bit as you go, model it flat. then attach them all into one mesh. you could make gums too out of a long box. then add a bend modifier to the whole thing and curve it around to fit the mouth.

not to sound mean or anything, but you should try and show some initiative and figure out some of these things out for yourself. I mean you've obviously got some beginner modeling skills, after all you made this character and a lounge room scene i saw in another thread. so take a leap and figure out a way to do it using the knowledge you have.

how do you think you would go about modeling teeth?

if you get a job in 3d you'll have to do a little problem solving every now and then and there won't always be a tutorial for every specific little problem you'll face and there won't always be someone to guide you through every single step.

having said that, if your trying to do something and just can't find a solution by all means ask for help. everyone hits a wall and needs help sometimes, but you wont learn or learn to trust yourself and your skills if you have to ask for help for every single little problem.
and it's a story that might bore you, but you don't have to listen, because I always knew it was going to be like that.

Agreed, we don't mind helping but as matt said sometimes you do need to take a leap and try things for yourself before asking for help.

The method I usually use is to make a long box, cut it into an even amount of segments, where each tooth shares two of its edges with other teeth(except the end ones) and has an edge all to itself in its middle. Then I'll take the shared edges and pull them back from the front of the mouth and set their crease to 1. Then I'll take the bottom vertices from the non-shared edges and pull them down for each tooth so they have some point to them. Keep in mind, not all teeth are the same length.

After doing that, I apply a bend modifier to the row of teeth and set the angle to about 100. Play with the X, Y, Z and angle parameters until the teeth curve back.

Finally, I apply a turbo-smooth so they look nice and smooth. I wouldn't bother with the gums unless you think they'll be shown a lot.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense, but it ought to put you in the right direction, which is more important than listening to my instructions. It should also teach you about some nifty tools.

P.S. Teeth won't make him not look like an old man. You need to define his lips better for that to happen. There are tutorials around the net on how to do mouths, but I'd suggest fiddling with him yourself. Here's a hint: the Ring and Loop tools under the edge modifier of editable polies are your friends. So is the connect tool.
