Basically I want to establish the changes of light. When the main character sitting in the dark room, there is little amount of light. When that man stands up to move outside of the room, however, the light gradually changes from dark to bright. That means, the more he reaches the door, the more the light becomes brighter. How to create the gradual changing of light like that in 3dmax? Thank you

you can simply animate multiplier to gradually increase or decreese.Press auto key move the animation slider to the frame you want to increse the light and then just increese the multiplyer in you spotlight, omni light or what ever light setup you have.By default max set's up every animation to gradually increse, and decreese at the begining and the end, you can fix that by going at the curve editor and ajust the curve for the selected light
