Hey guy's I have not been very active lately as some of you may have noticed. I got a job as a programmer! Matt (Moses) got me a job with his company. I'm planning on adding some new features to this site and getting more users etc as soon as I have some free time. I haven't touched max in ages but I'm hoping that I will have some free time soon to get back into it. I may even have a look at some max script and throw some scripts your way for testing. Anyways Just thought I would say hi. How's the job hunting going for everyone else?

Congratulations man. What sort of stuff are your programming? web based PHP or even scarier, C? Either way its tough stuff.

My job finished about a week ago so I'm a bum again looking for work. Its alright there may be something on horizon but its very hush hush.

If you get into writing scripts for max I have a good challenge for you that would result in a very handy tool. but only if your interested.
and it's a story that might bore you, but you don't have to listen, because I always knew it was going to be like that.

Yea PHP programming and other stuff like AJAX and yea it is tough but satisfying also. Yea man it would seem that once you have worked in the 3d industry your chances of getting work again are pretty high. Got anything you can show us from work?

What is your max script challenge?

this is one of the commercials i did. [Link to www.healthpartners.com.au]
its available to view on their website so it should be alright that i show you. This is one of three commercials I animated. This one is is currently on tv but my other two have yet to be seen.

now for my max script challenge. Theres a script for Maya which I have started using but i want a similar script for max as i switch back and forth between the two programs all the time. Its called grease pencil and its for quickly blocking out poses when animating. it lets you draw in the viewports using splines as if you were sketching. Then once you have your poses sorted out you just pose your 3d model similar to your quick sketches. That may not make sense so go here [Link to www.jonhandhisdog.com] theres a video tutorial there on how to use it and what it does as well as a quick Q and A on how it works in maya.

I have a feeling this will be extremely difficult but if you can figure out a way to do it you will be hailed among all 3ds max animators. if this is too hard its no big deal.

Good luck!

Good stuff with the ad Matt and congrats on the job Jamie. I'm still currently not having any luck on the jobs front. Plenty of applications, even went into a few places in town last week to drop it off personally. As usual haven't heard anything yet so I'll have to call them and beg for feedback. Even a "you're crap please die" would be better than no feedback. I'm off to Melbourne for a week tommorow, so I'll take a couple of copies of my reel to a few places over there as well. Hopefully that break isn't too far away. I'm starting to wonder if it's ever gonna happen.

Any chance you can post your reel on here? it would be good to see. Also what sort of position are you aiming for?

I'll start a new thread in the fininshed animation forum with my reel, you can comment/abuse there. As for your question, I think that's my problem. I can't just stick to one area and really nail it. I can safely say I'm not an animator/rigger, but I'm not sure what I am exactly.
