Man, I've been in a funk lately of not doing any max work, but hope I'm snapping out of it. I'm currently rendering a 30 second clip involving FumeFX, VRay & Particle Flow. It looks good so far, but won't really know for about another 12 hours. I'll post it tomorrow before I head out on my anniversary weekend with my wife. I'll give you a hint... It involves a Bunson Burner and a glass beaker.....

Ok, here was my idea... Fire up a bunsen burner, boil the liquid in a beaker, produces some colored gas & have the liquid evaporate. Sounds easy right...hehe

I was only able to render 600 out of 900 frames. As soon as I tried to evaporate the liquid, i.e., use a slice modifier and move the fume emitter down, the gas retained the shape of the beaker instead of filling the volume of it. Very strange result.. I've attached frame 600 and frame 800 so you can see the difference.. I've just starting using Fume to follow the internal pattern of object so I'm a little stumped.

Anyway, I am posting my short video without the closeup of the liquid evaporating.

Thats a really weird result your getting with the gas there. Is that bit fume or particle flow?

It's Fume using a Simple Source Helper to create the smoke. It's strange how it will fill it up to begin with, but when I move the source it retains the shape.. In the future I may have to use a particle flow as my source and emit the fumes off of it. I'll experiment some more.

Good luck. Sorry I can't help, I've had next to no experience with fume.

I think the issue is that your supposed to set your area that you want fume to work and not move it... Like I did... I figured out a good solution. I'm working now to make a good Fume burning fuse so I can work toward a really cool explosion that has more carnage than my exploding teapot on my site.
