I was burning some large files onto a DVD using the windows drag and drop thing and it got to about 70% and just stayed there for about half an hour. I pressed cancel and nothing happened for about 10 minutes after which I hit the reset button. Now when I go to access the drive , it opens and asks me to insert a disc, even though there is a disc in there. I've googled it and everything seems to be pointing to getting a new drive. Surely something like that couldn't cause a hardware error could it? Anyone else had this problem? [Link to www.3dprevis.com]
I could just be that the drive picked that time to die. However one thing you could try is to uninstall the dvd burner. Go to device manager, right-click the drive, select uninstall. Then right click the 'computer' icon in device manager and select "scan for hardware changes", which should re-install the drive. Then check to see if it works. I've had to do that occassionally on my laptop due to a wierd bug on a particular driver version.

I have had a similar problem and in the end it was the IDE cable and not the drive. Something worth looking at. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
