Hi! I have struggled to find a tool in 3D max which would be the equivalent to the contour tool in Corel, the Offset tool in AutoCad and the Offset path tool in Illustrator. I find this tool extremely useful in other programs, does 3D max have this tool or something similar (maybe it's called something else)? Or does anyone have any suggestions for another way to achieve this in 3D max?

Not sure, but sounds like you may want path deform or loft?

select your spline, convert it to editable slpine then go to modify and look on Geometry Parameters then go to Outline, pressing the size will give you the offset you want.
