Greetings all,

I was hoping that I might be able to get some assistance with a question. I am looking to isolate specific areas of an existing model in 3ds max 2009. The model is power armor from Fallout 3, and I'm looking to export these individual sections into pepakura so that I can make a 3D model out here in the real world.

The model is somewhat separated already, but the torso, groin, legs, and feet are connected, and I need to separate them. Any suggestions? Or is this not possible?

Thanks in advance!

in editable poly or mesh (right click>convert to) go to the element subobject mode, select an element then go to detach. then you might want to re centre the pivot point by selecting the object>heirachy tab>affect pivot only>centre to object button.

wow you tell someone to detach part of a mesh and you become a God Among Men!!! grin.gif
Spanishearl, after you detach it, and realign its pivot, don't forget this all-important point : RENAME IT APPROPRIATELY!
now i am also a God Among Men! grin.gif
