The modelling's really good and there's lots of detail in there. To improve the image you could work a bit more on the lighting and textures. Try matching you scene lights to the lights sources you would expect in real life in a kitchen such as this one. The main one would be the window. Also, it needs to be dirtied up a bit. Add some dirt to the floors and walls, grease splatters and maybe a bit of rubbish on the ground.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
thanx steve for ur comments.....hey what texture shud i give to the gas cylinder in the kitchen? i know it's red in colour... but there r also some dirt stripes on it.... and it looks a bit dirty... so how do i give the dirt look??
i made this kitchen with reference to my own home kitchen...well... i modlled most of the things but left some...i also modelled a CFL light bulb in it.... and tried placing a photometric free point light .... but it's showing error while calculation...i've posted the problem in the Help and Advise Topic...plz see it.
secondly... you say that the windows and walls need to be dirtied....but i dunno how to give that effect...and grease etc. plz help me.. Thanx.
Looking really nice, I agree with what steve says about texturing and lighting. I think it could use some bitmap based textures that are in the right scale for the walls and floor etc.. and maybe a vray or mental ray sun system to get that early morning breakfast in the sun feel.
You can make things dirty by mixing image textures with your diffuse/bump maps. Or if you have vray, you can try VrayDirt. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
It is a map. So open your maps rollout and choose diffuse map or something, it will be in he "new" list, not the material library. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
i opened up the maps rollout....and chosed the diffus map....but i can see only foor maps namely - VrayBmp Filter, Vray edges tex, Vray HDRI & Vray Map. Where is this Vray dirt? can't see......
ya .... i selected vray as the production renderer and also chose vray material on an empty slot...then gone to diffuse and opened the maps rollout... but cud see only four maps which i've wriiten above.
I think its only in version 1.5, vray dirt is similar to the ambient occlusion map in mental ray. It can be used to mix in a darker map or colour into all the cracks and crevasses of youre scene. Try this map mixed into your wall colour at 25% it has a nice stain coming from the top and tiles horizontally.
thanx tyson for the help..... but i'm still a beginner in vray.... i think i'll have to start frm the very basics... coz i don't even know the abc of vray... but as u all recommended chaosgroup.com for vray tuts... so i've started reading the documentation....and it's a good site. can't u get the documentation in the pdf form? if u know how plz tell me. thanx.
You don't need vray, just use the "mix map" from the standard max maps list and use it to mix two bitmaps together. you can set a percentage or use a greyscale map to mix them (like noise or a custom map). Very usefull. if you mix lots of stuff together (ie: mix two things then mix them with two more things etc..) and make sure things get really complex in bump and specular aswell you can get far more realism in your materials.
