Female in Oslo who is totally new in this forum and also as a 3ds max student. I'm studying in a traineeprogram, where I'm supposed to learn 3ds, flash with actionscript, dw and some c++
It's exiting and fun but also a bit difficult in the beginning and that's why I thought that perhaps some of you more experienced 3ds users/students/prof. could help me out? wink.gif

well, you could say that.. my future job that is smile.gif so now I'm supposed to learn as much as possible in short time. But some of my questions my boss cannot answer so he suggested that I'd be a member here. Is it good? Do you get the help you need? Or perhaps you just want a place to show what you've done? smile.gif I've seen a lot of good work in here!

I've been having some irritating problems with my software the latest couples of weeks - have been reinstalling everything and still I'm having problem rendering files and some other things that doesn't seem to work the same way in the new versionsmile.gif perhaps I could ask you? It seems like you know what you're doingwink.gif

I haven't been in here for a while, due to tech. problem wink.gif
it's nice to see that there are so sweet people that want to helpsmile.gif

I was going to animate a text that in the beginning is invisible and gets 100 percent visible. But when I go to object properties and turn off the visibility and then turn on auto key and go back to turn on the visibility on the right frame it doesn't work when I play it.. Do you know why?

Animating the visibility track is a bit weird at first. What you describe should work though. Heres the steps I did just now to make sure.

1. right click the object, go to object properties and turn visibility to zero.

2.click ok.

3. scrub the time slider to another frame.

4. turn on autokey.

5. go back to object properties and set visibility back to 100.

You should see two key frames appear.

You can always check whats going on by opening the curve editor.
Graph editors>trackview-curve editor. then find the visibility track.
the visibility track won't be there until you have created keys for it or added a visiblity track using trackview.

In trackview you can change key frame values and interpolation.

hi againsmile.gif
I've tried what you said but it still doesn't work and when I open the curve editor I can't see any visibility track, but I did each and every step that you've mention to me above. What could be the problem?

Flash Action scripting is always a delight..lol.. I used Max to make a scene last year and spent a couple of month programming my game. Don't know much about AS3.0 though. Check this one out and don't get scared, that's my voice on the game.

I have done a reasonable amount of ActionScript, and I'm currently programming a 3d game in C++/OpenGL. Anything I can help with, I would be glad to.

Its going to be a strategic/3rd person rpg. Slowly getting the engine going, optimizing it to run at a decent speed is the hardest part, that and collision detection.

We have a killer plot/story for it, I can wait to start that part.

Nah thats on hold at the moment. I may go back to it after a while, but the 3d engine is keeping me pretty busy.
