Has anyone here ever gotten into maxscript?

I learned it yesterday and I gotta say, its not the prettiest language but man it sure is useful.

I recommend anyone with any programming experience to give it a shot.

I've never used it. What sort of things did you do with it?

I am using it as a custom exporter at the moment, but I can see things that I will likely use it for in the future. Eg. batch processing.

never used max script since i rarely use max anymore, but in maya I use a mel script for parenting controllers to joints in rigging. its hard to explain unless your familiar with maya but in nutshell it kinda tricks maya into thinking a nurbs controller is parented to the bone but with clean channels, like i said hard to explain. occasionally i use a script to automate stretchy IK handles, but this was a freebie from the internet I could never write a script this complex myself.

I also use a bit of scripting in animating characters in maya. I open the script editor and select every controller a character has. the script editor records all these selections as code, then I highlight this code and drag it onto my shelf. this creates a button which automatically selects every controller a character has I then key the character as necessary. This is handy because it allows me to keep my animation keys clean and organised for the most part. I know max has a similar function with script listener or reader or something, I cant remember max has been a while.

I have never written my own scripts because programming just gives me a headache, although i have seen some very useful plugins made using scripts.

and it's a story that might bore you, but you don't have to listen, because I always knew it was going to be like that.

Cool. Scripting certainly opens up many possibilities.
