So, first post (Hi all!).
I'm suprised I can't find an answer to this, I thought this would have been asked a zillion times. The question I have is that I'm writing a script to assign certain values depending on the geometry. For this, I must know whether it's a box, as sphere, an editable mesh, etc. So, how do I find out what kind of geometry I'm dealing with? Say I have a variable containing different geometry (boxes, spheres, cones, etc), how would I extract all spheres from it?
Right now I get the type by counting vertexes, but this obviously has some major drawbacks.

I found about custom attributes, so I'll use that instead. Sorry about this thread.
