Hey guys. As you already news, everyday i'm trying to complete (and i do complete most of them!) tutorials that i find somewhere. Again, i found pretty lookin' dragon making tutorial:
[Link to www.3dm3.com]
It's made with the same method as Joan Darc (which was quite easy), but... i just can't get it started. Extrusion etc. is really easy (i am able to make head with no problem), but i just can't get started. Author has written that he has used 8 side cyllinder. In the top view, i see at least 10 of them. All i want to achieve is this - [Link to www.3dm3.com] , so it's almost 'the beginning of the beginning'. All the things mentioned later i am able to do myself. So... please, any help?

What are you asking?! How did he extrude the edges?!
Depending on what Version of Max you have... you could try just selecting the open edges around the body (where you want the leg to come from) and simple hold shift and drag them down..... this will create new polys... Works on Edit Poly in Max 9, but only on Edit Mesh in Max 7...

As i said, except the beginning i am able to do everything of this. I'm able to do the center of the body and the whole part to the head, but i have problems with the back - he somehow have more edges then he sould.
So, i know how to extrude it (i said that i was following easily the Joan Darc tutorial, which was made almost the same method). But whatever i'm trying to do (applying edges/vertexes to the templates) - it's still very different from the tutorial.
And also, i'm sayin' it again - he said that he had 8 sides cyllinder. But in the tutorial top view i saw at least 10 - so...?

He probably started with an 8 sided cylinder but has added edges with the connect and cut tools etc. Can you post an image of what you've got so far so we can make some suggestions?

That doesn't look too bad, all it needs is a few vertices welded to get rid of those steps in the geometry and smooth things out a bit.
