hi everybody
i'm new in mental ray and i know a little about finalgathering and global illumination
i want to complete a cortoony animation and i want to make a cartoony look to my render
my question is about ability of mental ray
can this renderer engine do something a little like dreamworks' animations?
and how can i learn working with it?

GI and Final Gather affects the realism of your lights, but I'd say that the "cartoony" look would mostly be affected by the way in which you paint your textures.

I agree, dreamworks animations have that look because of production design, not because of the renderer. There should be a cell shader material that will make your 3d objects look like 2d cartoons that you might be able to use, but it won't look like Dreamworks or Pixar.

Yeah, you could look up "toon shaders". Thats the effect like what you see in the 3d parts of Futurama (and sometimes in Family Guy now). Only I think for Futurama they are using Cinema4D, or they were in season 1 anyway.

so I shoud look for cartoony textures and make my models cartoony look.
but how can i find toony textures?
some of toony textures are available in total textures vol15 but I need more!
can anyone tell me another texture collection?
