hello, I have been following the in software tutorials for aw hile now and have had sucess using spline cages (drawing the spline in 2d,t hen using the surface modifier).

What I have done here is draw the outside of a boat then the surface and then symmetry modifier:

So as you can see I have an outside mesh but the inside is ofcours empty (1 sided boat hull).

I am just wondering if there is any easy way to make this two side now, preferably in a way so i can pull the floor of the boat up to deck level so that the original shape is unchanged but I can now use a 2 sided hull. I tried drawing more splines directly but it seems to get the normals all over the place so I dont think that will work.

Thank you

Use the "Shell" Modifier. That should take care of it.

Thanks for the prompt and sucessful reply. This will come in handy.

There is one other thing I would like to try with the current model:

Is there another modifier or semi quick series of steps to raise the interio bottom of the boat level with the top edges (essentially the top side should be flat all across as one even deck with no edges) ?

I think hand select the verices on the inner hull and welding them might be the slow way as it will take me hours lol.

i don't think so, but you could cut a line at the interior and use a Bridge to make the deck.
