This is something I've been thinking about as a real world project. I'm hoping some of you can help out with some real world design issues as well as some crits on the modeling.
I realize there are some structural issues that would involve carbon fiber.
This guitar has an interchangeable electronics package, making different configurations easy.

Ok, sounds interesting. Isn't this the kind of project you would use cad for?

Oh I didnt see you added an image. Sorry about that. Looking cool man. So that white part of the body is replaceable?

Exactly, the player could try different configurations of pickups and controls, video game cartridge style.
Can you offer some design ideas? I want to make it look sexier and more modern, while keeping it old school..kinda.

I think a classic look is good. I mean you could add some crazy functionality like a midi switch so you can input directly to a computer. Or add a modular mat or something.

So this would be like a Zoybar then?
It is ok, I wouldn't talk to me either...

I guess....in a way. But there is still a "classically" functional electric guitar behind this, not just a carbon frame hidden behind a shell. I want to cram everything I can into it, or cram as little as I can into it, and still have a mostly wooden body and the sound that comes from that.

Fair enough, that solidness of the guitar is important (or so my guitar playing friends tell me lol) and I could see the potentional in a guitar like this!

Looking good Chris. The idea's good but you probably wouldn't want to make it look too different from a normal guitar otherwise people may be less inclined to try it out. Are the interchangable pickups the only addition?

Thanks all, I'm not sure where I'm going with this. This model IS my sketch. As I've said, I'd like to have this be a real world thing, but I would also like to go off and have the whole thing be a fantasy type guitar, impossible, unnecessary, strange ....etc

What would you want to see?

I am more or less looking for help in deciding what I want to do.

One thing I've picked up from TV commercials is that if you want something to be cool stick and Ipod jack in it.That might be an idea. And an auto-tune button would be great. Use the selector knob to select the tunning you would like and press the button and BAM! It's tuned. You could change tunings mid song.

Yeah, I've seen the robot guitar, I completely forgot about it until you said that.

Thanks for the ideas, keep 'em comin. Even if you think it's crazy or stupid, impractical or useless, let's here it!

I'll do an update soon.

Since we're talking stupid and impractical perhaps some sort of attachment that belches flames or sparks.
