Finally heres something I've been working on. I've been obsessed with moebius for ages (as you may be aware) and I finally made the bird from the arzach comics. I'm not pleased with the way the characters and background work together and I've not yet made proper bump and spec maps. infact the textures are mainly just quick procedural jobs like cellular. Let me just say that z-brush 3 is absolutely Frakking awesome.
Yep, that's some really nice modelled detail. Obviously you've been having a lot of fun in Z-brush. All the small details on the saddle and the character look really good as well. The textures aren't too bad, though as you say they could probably do with a bit of work. It's good to see you doing something for yourself for once.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
I'm loving the bird model man. As for the composition I think it could do with a different background. I would also consider posing the female character differently, she seems like she could fall off at any moment. Maybe posed a bit more like you avatar, so that it seems more like she is riding it. I agree, I rigged her up extremely badly so she has almost no range of motion, I need to spend a few hours on the rig so I can use her for a few different stills I have in mind.
I also want to model the massive rib cage in the background of the moebius picture.
I think thats so cool, creatures bigger than a bluewhale making up the landscape...
I like how this is working so far. There are a few things that could possibly improve this.
Obviously the character's problematic stance has been raised previously. She needs to be bent at the knees, braced against the impact of the wind, to give a greater sense of balance and authority. A flow cape might look great as a final touch.
I must admit I am not much of a fan of the background either. It seems to add confusion to the light source, shadows and does not seem to be particular reflective of your inspiration (in my limited understanding of it) in its muddied colouration. I think that using a sky with a greater amount of light would add to the dynamicism of the final silhouette.
That's my thoughts anyway.
Like this giant fish in a bear suit. He would be horrible. Look at him go!!
