Give me thought on my exploding logo. [Link to www.3dartconcepts.com] You'll have to click on "animation gallery" and the "P-Flow Logo Explode". The initial particle count started at 12000 particles and max out at 76000 particles. It's very interesting to get them to form into a second object. The particle age maps are interesting also. Additive color does work as good as I had hoped.

That's really cool stuff. PF is one of my fav tools in max. If you ever have a big shoot out, PF will do all bullet activities like painting holes, dropping shells, tracer rounds, and small bits of spilling debris.

What are you going to do with it next?

edit:
lol You have the EXACT same background color as I do on my site. I guess great minds think alike.

That's great.... Tomorrow, I'm going to work on a missile scene with Afterburn... it will be a short video... At least that's the plan.. If you noticed by my site, most of my animation is all particle flow, but the robot is only partial. I'm test the same logo explosion with VRay right now. It only took about 6 minutes to render with the standard Scanline renderer, but it's looking like VRay with an HDRI environment map for lighting is going to take about 6 hours, so I'll post it on my site tomorrow. It look like the additive colors will work better with VRAY, just really stretches out the render time.

Looks great. Mt one crit would be that the texture on the 3d art concepts logo looks a bit messy. What sort of effect are you going for?

It's good to see someone trying something a bit different here.

Ya, I could seem to get the material just right. It was support to have a more glow effect, that's why I was using additive color. With a 99% value, the particles become semi-transparent, which is support to cause them to get brighter as they stack on top of each other. I'm going to try some more experiment on single particles with trails instead of a huge particle system like this one to cut down render times and get faster results.

If you want an overall glow effect try apply a gaussian blur to each frame and overlay it on the original if you can be bothered or can find a composite package that can do it.
