So the past two nights I've been in the modelling mood and decided to start modelling my dream computer setup. I've started with the monitor, a Dell 30" to be exact. Here's just a texture-less render of it so far: [Link to img188.imageshack.us]
And here's my reference: [Link to images.digitalmedianet.com]
I've only been modelling for 3 or 4 months so don't be too harsh However I do want your honest opinions because I really want to get better.
I really want to get one of those monitors too. A friend of mine just got one and it makes a huge difference having all that screen real estate. good start on the model.
I've been looking at this monitor for over a year but still haven't got it. Right now I'm on two 22" Samsung monitors, which is great, but really sucks to watch TV on (I use a TV card). I'm jealous of your friend [Link to mediadesign.deviantart.com] [Link to www.youtube.com]
The model is good so far I would recommend using the hard edge turbo smooth trick that tyson covers in his recent video if you want it to look truly accurate. Other than that good job man. You can post image by clicking the file button one you have a made a post. This allows you to keep adding images to your original post. I only saw Tysons video after I posted this, but his turbo smooth trick is really useful and I was trying to figure out how to smooth out my model. It'll take a while doubling the edges up . Oh I didn't notice the file button, I'll use that from now on.
No probs man, Yea it takes ages to chamfer all the edges, but it it is stuff like that that get's you a job. Cool man, any questions about the site just pm me.Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Yep, however it does not apply to low poly obviously, so modelling for games it a hell of a lot easier. Please support us and post a [Link to www.digitalartsfront.com] on your website.
Yeah, which was what I originally intended on learning modelling for. Now I'm having to change my habits and not have to worry at all about polys - infact I need to worry about adding more, instead of keeping them low.
I'm having some major problems with this chamfer edge and turbosmooth technique (it doesn't really seem to be working) so I'm going to have to leave it for now. I'll try it on some simpler objects first before I do it on this monitor.[Link to mediadesign.deviantart.com] [Link to www.youtube.com]
