i too faced the same problem yesterday mentioned by crozer.... well.. i rebooted my pc and then the tools were restored on starting 3ds max...

i'll advise u guys to use Deep Freeze software - a software which keeps ur C drive freeze and that protects ur pc from being infected by viruses while u r using internet. this can be downloaded frm internet or if anyone needs i can send it via e-mail. i've been using it for 3yrs now...and my pc is still in a good condition.... coz of this soft.
The biggest adantage of this soft. is while ur pc is frozen., even if u delete any doc. frm the c drive or create a new doc. the changes will not be saved..
i guess many of u might be using it..
