ok i'm almost done with my scene, and the objects in it.....
i need to present my portfolio along with my application for the course, to prove that i have some capability with 3d, even though i've never had formal training of any kind, and have an undergraduate degree in a technical field (computer science)
My portfolio will consist of each object in the room, one by one, and then finally the day scene with all the objects, and the night scene at last.
i have some questions i was hoping you all could answer :
a) in what format should i render? what size?
b) what sort of lighting should the individual object renders have? i will be rendering them alone, not as part of the scene....
c) how do i present my portfolio? do i take prints of all the renders, or will a CD-R suffice?
d) how do i make a showreel/slideshow of my renders? i would preferably like to have captions for each image
e) do i include wireframes renders for some objects?
this isn't a professional portfolio (i'm not applying for work) but it has to be presentable

a) Render out as a tga stream, that way if you have any crashes mid render you can just reload and pick up where you left off. As for size, whatever your native TV format is. If it's Pal it's 720x576 if it's NTSC it's 720x486
b) Just a simple 3point setup will do, just make sure you can see everything
c) A DVD is probably best, but most companies will specify what is best in the job description.
d) A lot of companies ask for a shot list and description to acompany the reel. It's just a paragraph or so outlineing what methods you used and what programs etc.
e) Only if there's time. Don't drag it out too long.
