how can i creat stainless steal image or material in 3D max!!im always having problem with that when i render in mental ray or raytrace it only show a gray color or a grey with shiny white color.

i wish i can do that too......
i need more practice....

Are you using any kind of diffuse material pattern or just a color? If you are only using color, try adding some kind of stainless steel texture, like this. [Link to www.butlersheetmetal.com]
You can google textures to find something you like. If it to strong, just dial the percentage down.
