I cant seem to get my materials to render their bump maps. I have imported a 3d model from ACAD and am using a matlib that Ive used on other projects. The surfaces and shapes created in Max are rendering the way they should be. For some reason everything Ive imported from ACAD wont render their bump maps. Material color is fine, material characteristics like glasses and metals are fine, just cant get the bump maps. HELLLLLPPPPP!!!!

Can you show us a screenshot of the Maps panel where the nump map is meant to be?

hopefully this is the maps panel youre asking for. I posted two of the panels. also included is a quick render showing that the bump map is not showing up on the 3d model imported from ACAD but you can see in the bottom left corner of the render, a box that I created in 3ds max renders the bump just fine (except for the scale of the bump) which is my next question.

how do u scale a bump map? the texture is way too big proportionately.

but first I need the bump map to show up on the objects imported from ACAD.

You can scale the bumpmap down by adjusting the tiling up in the material editor. Or you can use a uvwmap modifier and scale the gizmo down. As for the bump not showing up, that's a difficult one. What sort of mesh are the objects you imported from ACAD (Editable mesh, editable poly etc)?

I'd say you need to re-apply uv mapping. the quickest way to get good uvs for buildings like this is to use an unwrap uvw modifier. select all the faces within the modifier (ignore backfacing should be unchecked) then use the flatten mapping tool with default values.
then tile the bitmap as necessary. try selecting your bump map then hit the show map in viewport button in the material editor. that will give you an idea as to wether the uvs are working.

Thanks guys. Turns out adjusting the uv scale did the trick. The bump map was always there even on the imported objects. The scale of the map was so small I couldnt see it. Now its working fine. Thanks again.

Not a problem, glad it's fixed.
