My company wants me to make a 5 min animation to launch a new product line. I have shown them some samples of the main character for the factory assembly line and this is what they chose. Now I just have to find time to make it all.

Looks pretty good. Love the spring neck, should give you plenty of options when it comes to making a cool animation. Just thinking of him gettng hit in the head and having it spring way off and then bounce back. 5 minutes is a lot of animation, any idea what you're gonna do?[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
I've started something here. I wanted the intro to start by:
1) opening a door with a sioulette of the character
2) turning on the lights
3) showing the factory where the one product will be loaded on to a conveyor and moved into a machine. Fire pit inside the machine.
4) The 2 new product come out the other end on two separate conveyors.
5) Which then leads in to the product overviews, features and benefits.
It's something that I have to do in the very little spare time that I have these days and I'm not sure I can get 9000 frames done in a month
I just stuck a teapot in here to represent the factory.

Yeh, just rendering 9000 frames in a month alone is difficult, and you have to make the thing first. My suggestion would be to cut as many corners as possible. Render out objects on separate layers and do as few camera moves as possible, then you only have to render out sequences of the objects that are moving. Use still frames as much as possible and then animate text/titles in After Effects (if you have After Effects), 3000 frames out of After Effects will be a lot quicker than 3000 out of Max. There are lots of things like that you can do to cut render times but still have everything look cool.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Its looking great. Its nice to see you doing a character too. As Steve said. 5 minutes is a hugely long sequence. Does it have to be that long for a reason? or can you interpret that time as, something fairly substantial but just so long as it gets the point across? I often get asked to make things for promo videos at my company and they'll say, just make it a few minutes, and they really just mean, 15-30 seconds. My first thought was that some simple eyes would give him a bit more relate-ability. and maybe some expression in his mouth too? maybe a rotating jaw? Really cool tho. look forward to see the full thing.
