Here is another peak! It is far from done. Pay no attention to the materials, I just through this on there to check it as I go. I'm debating on either going with treads (rubber) or two from drive wheels with a single steering wheel in the back.
Only half way, you serious? It looks great already, I can't wait to see what else you've got planned for it. It'd be insane if you could get it rigged. On the other hand, trying may send you insane.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
I have the treads rigged. I originally made the treads as one continuous piece, but to animated it, I went to individual treads and used a path form modifier.

Painted , Rigged and ready for animation! The body that is! I'll have to put together a set of weapon demonstrations (Grenade Launcher, Gatlin Gun, Flame Thrower and Plasma Rifle)..lol
Rick
I've made a scene with many weapons ranges for the total animation. The first section will be a basic obstacle course to so manuverability. Second will be the grenade launcher range. Third, the plasma rifle. Four, the Gatlin gun and last the flame thrower.
I've started animating the first scene and with the tile texture that I made for the walls, is it taking around 1:50min per frame, so roughly 10 hours per 10 seconds of animation..lol Here patients!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't seem to be much activity of here these days! Where did everyone go? Anyway, I found an interesting problem while rigging the treads on my robot. I used the main body of the robot to control it. Using the local axis "Y" as a forward and backward moment, I was able to set wire parameters to the treads "path form modifier" percentage along the spline. So with a formula like ( -Y Position * .008), gave me the correct speed of tread movement as I moved the main body back and fourth. No almighty formula, just trial and error. I also wanted to be able to set it up on the rotation of the main body, so that the treads would rotate in opposite direction as the main body rotates on its 'Z' axis. Unfortunitely, what I have found is that you can not use more than one form of moment to control the modifier (i.e. position and rotation). I tried linking 2 objects to the main body and have each object move each tread, but no luck. Just I'll have to re-wire the treads when I want to make a stand still turn.

I can't come up with any suggestions for controlling the position and rotation of the treads with one object. It'd look really good on a demo reel if you could move the mainbody around in the viewport and have the treads move accurately with it. Oh well. Still looking forward to seeing what you've got.[Link to www.3dprevis.com]
Well, actually I'm posting here and there, but I've noticed the latest post is like 1 week old.....what's happening?
Steve gave me some crits on a 2D work, I replied and then posted 2 more sketches, but nothing's moving....not that I want you to follow my works at any step, just some life, even to say "flush it!".
Btw....I wrote some crits on a 3D interior design scene, few days ago, but cant find it anymore. Did it disappear for any reason or I just cant navigate this forum properly? =p
No Gods but Yourself!! >.<
